Summary

"The Works of William Shakespeare [Cambridge Edition] [Vol. 3 of 9]" by William Shakespeare is a compilation of his plays from the early 1600s, featuring comedies and dramas such as "The Taming of the Shrew," "All's Well That Ends Well," "Twelfth Night; or, What You Will," and "The Winter's Tale". The plays explore love, power struggles in relationships, and the rules of society, illustrated by deep characters dealing with love and family responsibilities. "The Taming of the Shrew" begins with a funny trick on Christopher Sly, a drunk, when a lord makes him think he's a rich man. Then, the story moves to the rocky romance of Petruchio and Katharina, showing their fights and strong words, while, Lucentio falls for Katharina's sister Bianca, starting a swirl of love interests shaped by the older sister and her hopeful partners, and the volume creates an interesting mix of social class, gender, and the nature of intense love.

About the Author

William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet and actor. He is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". His extant works, including collaborations, consist of some 39 plays, 154 sonnets, three long narrative poems and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. Shakespeare remains arguably the most influential writer in the English language, and his works continue to be studied and reinterpreted.
